Widefield microscopy illuminates the entire sample simultaneously, making it fast and simple for many applications, particularly with fixed samples. While this can lead to blurred images from out-of-focus light, deconvolution algorithms computationally reassign that light to its correct location, producing sharp, high-contrast images. This approach is ideal for routine multi-channel imaging, screening, and 3D reconstructions of fixed specimens.
In our facility, widefield imaging is provided by the DeltaVision Ultra system.
Benefits of widefield deconvolution:
- Gentle on samples (no confocal laser scanning)
- High throughput and speed
- Easy to use and familiar workflow
- Excellent image quality with post-acquisition deconvolution
- DeltaVision Ultra
- A high-resolution widefield deconvolution microscope optimized for imaging and analysis of cellular and subcellular processes, up to 50 μm beyond the coverslip and down to 250 nm in size. It is designed for extreme sensitivity in widefield fluorescence imaging and is easy to master.
